Single Engine Flying Boat

Introduction

The Sikorsky S-39 is a single engine flying boat capable of flying off land or water. Plans are available in three sizes; 1/6, 1/8, and 1/12 scale - with Laser Cut Kits and Vacuum Formed Parts available in 1/6 and 1/12 scale.

Our 52" wingspan 1/12 scale model is powered by a Astroflight Brushless 020 Geared System; including a Castle Creations Phoenix 25 Controller, and a Thunderpower 3 cell 2100 Lipo battery. And only 2 1/4 pounds flying weight!
Available in amphibian configuration only (no landing gear), though takeoffs/landings sliding off grass are possible.

Our 1/6 scale model has 104" wingspan. At only 17 pounds, we will be flying this model this year on an Axi 5320/28 with 10S Lipo and a Castle 110HV controller. Check back for more details!
The model has successfully flown on this motor many times, though the controllers have been a weak link. We are looking to the Castle 110HV as the solution to a reliable power system for this model!
